Len and I are sitting in the lobby of our hotel in the beautiful, exotic, breathtaking St. Lucia waiting on our dinner reservation so I thought I would make a quick post.
This is our third night here, and we are definitely in love with this place. It really is an amazingly beautiful island with volcanoes, rain forest and beaches. We were lucky enough to get to catch Pam and Jake here on their last night of their honeymoon. And we celebrated.....hard. It was so fun to get to hang out with them for a night, especially in paradise.
So far we have had a helicopter ride, kayaked, swam in the ocean, floated in the pool, and ate and drank and ate some more. We are looking forward to a zip-lining adventure tomorrow, and then one last day of relaxing to round out our trip.
Hope everyone had a happy Fourth of July and we'll be back soon.

Happily Ever After
We were both excited and honored to be a part of the new Mr. and Mrs. Jake McLeod's big day last weekend. Congrats Pam and Jake! We wish you all the best. And kudos on a beautiful wedding. We had so much fun!

Me and the beautiful bride (with red eyes....grrrrr).

Me and the hubs. We got to walk down the aisle together, which was way fun and brought back tons of memories.

Also, as you can see below, the wedding colors were pink and green. It turned out so cute! And aren't the necklaces that she got for us just adorable?!

Our long lost friends Debra and Josh stealing a shot.

Catching Up
Can you believe it's already JULY!!!! I sure can't. Where did May and June fly off to? Here's what we've been up to.....
A wedding in Victoria followed by a FUN reception at Schroeder Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas.

Just one of those days...
Just thought everyone could enjoy a laugh at my expense. I have done 2 pretty stupid / embarassing things today that are just ridiculous enough to share.
Morning Workout Sprint
Lately I have just been running to the gym for my morning workouts. Saving gas, being green, extra cardio, and all that good stuff - it just made more sense. And luckily, it's only about a 5-10 minute run from my front door to the front door of the gym.
To access the gym, you must have one of those key chain scan cards. So, when I go to the gym I just take my entire key chain because it has my scan card and house key. Once I get to the gym I hang my key chain on a key chain rack at the front of the gym (with everyone else's keys) so that I don't have to carry them around the whole time or get a locker for them.
This morning I had just finished my run home and went to unlock the front door. For some reason the house key on my key chain wouldn't turn in the lock. I was still groggy and worn out from the workout, so I was just plain mad that I couldn't get into my house. Well, anger turned to horror when I finally realized that I had the wrong set of keys. So as I turned and SPRINTED back to the gym, all kinds of crazy thoughts were going through my head.
A) big scary man waiting for me at the door, really angry that someone stole his keys
B) someone taking my keys since I took theirs (they were really similar) and me not being able to get in the house to get ready for work
C) cops already there waiting on me as the person had called in their stolen keys
I made it back to the gym quite fast, I must say. And luckily my keys were still there, and I was able to make the switch without anyone noticing. On my walk back home I very nearly vomited b/c I was so overwhelmed with the situation, and had that 'just got finished running the 300 meter hurdles' feeling from the sprint back to the gym.
Surely that's enough excitement for one person in a day. Oh no....not this girl.
Copy Machine Crazies
So I'm already just plain flustered today and can't seem to get calmed down. It couldn't possibly be because of my morning trauma now could it?! Well, I'm rushing around at work, trying to get things in line this morning, and I rush into the copy room to make ONE copy. O-N-E. ONE.
Due to the nature of my work, I am accustomed to using all sorts of different copy machines. Every office has one that is a little different, and then they machines at KPMG are different depending on what floor of the office you are on. I have used a lot of different copy machines. I am not copy machine challenged.
This particular copy machine requires a user code before you are able to use it. So in my fluster I rush in, punch in the code (5,360), and rush out to grab something else. I come back to get my ONE copy, which should have been finished printing at this point, and there is a GIANT stack of papers in the pick-up tray and the copier is still going. I jump to check the screen on the machine, and sure enough, it's on copy number 538 of 5,360. This girl, in her rush, didn't realize that I had entered 5,360 copies instead of entering in my user code.
So I decided to take a little breather and share my stories--try to calm myself and restart the day. I am feeling better, if you are concerned, and feel like the rest of the day is sure to go much better. Hope you are all having a much better day than I am.

Shake 'n' Bake
I am sure that you have ALL been watching race coverage since you got up this morning, and that you are ALL impatiently awaiting the start of the Aaron's 499 like we are. I simply cannot WAIT and am just beside myself with antcipation [hopefully you've been able to catch the sarcasm].
It is, however, really fun to think that we were at this race one year ago. On the coverage they've been talking about all morning [eyeroll] they keep talking about the race last year and how it was an unforgettable finish. If you are not in the NASCAR loop, last year at Talladega, there was a huge controversial wreck right at the finish line. It was controversial because the guy that won, Brad Keselowski, only won after wrecking Carl Edwards. The 99 car flipped into the air, and hit the fence on the track. People in the stands had to be taken to the hospital because of debris injuries. And Carl Edwards, got out of his car and RAN acroos the finish line ON FOOT. Totally Ricky Bobby style.
Anyway, thought I'd share some of our pics from the race last year. It really was a lot of fun. Len says I'm spoiled after that race because there will never be another race that exciting.

There's a Spirit, can ne'er be told....
Which is the truth....one can never really explain what it is like to be a part of a University that is so rich in school spirit and time honored traditions. Some call it cultish, some think we're all crazy Aggies, but as one of our sayings goes, 'From the outside looking in, you can't understand it. But from the inside looking out, you can't explain it.'
One of my favorite traditions at A&M is the Aggie Ring. It is a HUGE DEAL to finally receive your Aggie Ring. Some background on the actual ring:
'Everything seen on the ring represents a value that an Aggie should hold. On the top is a large shield, which symbolizes the desire to protect the reputation of the university. The 13 stripes on the shield represent the 13 original states of America. The five stars on the shield refer to the phases of development of any Aggie: mind or intellect; body; spiritual attainment; emotional poise; and integrity of character.
The eagle symbolizes agility and power, and the ability to reach great heights. The large star on the side of the ring symbolizes the Seal of Texas. The five-pointed star is encircled with a wreath of olive and laurel leaves symbolizing achievement and a desire for peace. The live oak leaves symbolize the strength to fight for our country and our state. The leaves are joined at the bottom by an encircling ribbon to show the necessity of joining these two traits to accomplish one's ambition to serve.
An ancient cannon, a saber, and a rifle are on the other side of the ring and symbolize how citizens of Texas fought for their land and are determined to defend it. The saber stands for valor and confidence, while the rifle and cannon stand for a preparedness and defense. The crossed flags of the United States and Texas recognize an Aggie's dual allegiance to both nation and state.
This past weekend, I was so, so proud to welcome my cousin, Brady Rex Black, into the Aggie Ring club. Congratulations, Brady!!
