It never ceases to amaze me that you wait and wait and wait for things to happen how you want them to. And then, suddenly and without warning, life happens.
As most of you know, Len and I have been trying to get back to the Bay City area for a while. But, we haven't been able to sell our house, and more importantly, I could not find a job. I mean n-o-t-h-i-n-g. I had basically given up, and had resigned to the fact that we would be in Lewisville for at least another year or two.
Then I got back from lunch one day and had a voice mail on my cell phone. The Accounting Manager at STP Nuclear Operating Company (which is located just outside Bay City) had called and asked if I would be interested in an accounting position there. And they wanted me to come and interview as soon as possible because they needed me to start right away. This was at about 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. By 5 p.m. I was sitting on a plane headed to Houston, and I interviewed the next day.
I really enjoyed the ladies that interviewed me, and I thought the job sounded like it had the potential to be something I would end up loving. Len and I spent most of Sunday talking it over and ultimately decided that if the price was right, then there was no way I could pass up the opportunity.
The next Tuesday afternoon I received an offer, and I accepted the next morning and immediately submitted my 2 weeks' notice at KPMG. I will be starting my new job on November 8. Crazy, huh? I feel like I haven't even had a chance for it to all sink in yet.
The crummy part is that Len will be staying in Lewisville until our house sells. However, everyone at STP works 4, 10 hour days, with Friday off. So, I will have a nice long weekend to commute back and forth to Lewisville until something happens with our house.
I know it has been a while since I've blogged, but I just wanted to share this new and exciting adventure with everyone. Love to all!
